Jesse Sumisuke: Jesse is/was my first GRIT character, and while she was originally based on myself, she's very much grown apart from me over the past few years (she's kind of like a me who never met my fiancee). She's a blokey, scruffy, bad-tempered mangaka/doujinshika with a penchant for cammo and army gear, a very fine six-pack, and chip on her shoulder the size of a small moon. She's usually pretty pissed off about something or other (most commonly about stupid society and its stupid standards, or stupid BJ and his stupid lacy panties), and works by the general tactic of applying as much blunt force trauma to anything that gets in her way as she possibly can. She has been known to be calm and contemplative at times, but she's very much an actions-over-words kind of person, and views overthinking as simply a waste of time..

BJ Sumisuke: In true Ranma style, BJ (Bishie-Jesse) started as Jesse's cursed form - having fallen into the cursed "Spring of Drowned Bishonen", Jesse turned into BJ whenever she was doused in cold water. However, as it turns out, he's actually more than just a cursed form - instead the result of an accident that somehow managed to trap four separate entities in one body (referred to as the "Jesse Collective") some time in Jesse's past. BJ is the token bishonen homosexual of GRIT, and plays it up - he's a sweet, crossdressing girly-boy right out of a yaoi manga, who will blush and cry "oh, we mustn't!" even when he's happily glomped onto another guy's leg. He has, however, recently been separated from Jesse, and is realising that people don't take you seriously when you've made yourself a porn stereotype.

"Sensei" Sumisuke: Sensei is another of the Jesse Collective. Tho' her name is technically still Jesse, everybody started calling her Sensei because, well, that's what she does - teaches English, Japanese and Art at the local high school. In terms of personality, she's very much a mother and a teacher, and takes it as her duty to protect and nurture those around her; thus, she will do whatever she can for those who need her help, and has had more than a few sexual encounters with her students. She's a bit of a martyr, though; she believes her role in these relationships is to give what is needed, then walk out of their life in classic bittersweet fashion (though things started to change when she met Aoryuu...). She's also responsible for assembling a sentai (action hero team - think Power Rangers) of hall monitors as the school's guardians, the Hall Seishi.

J-ko Sumisuke: J-ko, the last member of the Jesse Collective, is just... weird. He looks like an eight-year-old child, with very long vanilla-coloured hair, no irises in his eyes, and big white wings. Although I refer to J-ko as a male for ease, he's actually completely asexual, and has no genitalia whatsoever. Aside of that, he's also blind, deaf, and mute; he "hears" by feeling air currents, and "speaks" in the form of music, playing on his harp. Although he appears to be a child, he seems both far more intelligent and far less emotional - in fact, he usually seems to barely be there at all.

Zing Mihoshin: Zing is a character I inherited from various other players, after his original creator left the game some years ago. He's one of GRIT's Magic Knights - yes, Rayearth style - who is very emotionally fragile, mostly due to a past where he was twice abducted and sexually abused by his enemies (a sensitive subject for a lot of people, so I'll understand if people want to avoid drawing him - but I love him to bits, and I'd be really happy if you did!). Anyways - he's completely pacifistic despite his abilities, and is very afraid of emotional or sexual contact, but he very much craves these things as well; all he really needs is somebody who can love him and help him heal, and I'm hoping he'll find that person at some stage in the story.

Makoto Shiraikaze: Makoto is a very recently-introduced character; a rather stereotypical Mysterious Bishonen Samurai with one small problem... can you keep a secret? Well, Makoto is actually female. Nobody knows it yet, including her; yes, she actually thinks she's a guy, since nobody's ever told her otherwise. She's very serious, committed to fighting and training, striving to better herself at every opportunity; she's also frustratingly macho, especially about hiding her feelings (moreso where romance is involved). Although it hasn't happened in GRIT yet, Makoto is eventually going to become involved with Konatsu, the male kunoichi from the original Ranma 1/2 manga; I love the parallels, between ninja and samurai and between their gender-dysphoria.
